Deposit
The first payment taken at registration, securing the place.
Hajj and Umrah registrations are almost never paid in one go. A deposit is taken at registration and the balance is split into instalments. The deposit does more than bring in cash: it commits the passenger's decision and lets the agency plan its allocation. The proportion varies by agency but in practice sits between a quarter and a third of the total. Whether it is refundable on cancellation must be stated in the contract.

How Deposit works in the system
The deposit is the first line of the instalment plan and posts to the ledger as a collection. When building the plan, ending the last instalment before departure is recommended — an instalment falling on departure day leaves no time to act when payment is late.
