Option (hold)
A hotel room or aircraft seat held for a limited time without purchase.
Operators hold rooms and seats before they have sold the tour, and every hold carries a deadline. When it passes, the space is either released or becomes payable. In peak season, missing one of these dates can change the cost base of an entire departure — it is usually the most expensive kind of forgetfulness in this business.
